Novice Camp

The Novice Camp is designed for swimmers ages 7 - 12 who have little or no prior competitive experience or lack a substantial training background. Please choose from beginner, intermediate or advanced. If you are unsure of your child’s ability, please call the camp office or make your best guess based on the criteria below.

Beginner
This is not a beginner swim lesson program! Swimmers must be able to complete at least 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. No team experience necessary.

Intermediate
Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle and backstroke and should have basic knowledge of breaststroke and butterfly.

Advanced
It is expected that swimmers can complete at least 50 yards of butterfly and breaststroke and 100 yards of freestyle and backstroke. The emphasis of this level will be on improving the technique of all four strokes, starts and turns. It is geared for swimmers without a strong competitive background.

The Technique Swim Camp reserves the right to move your child into the appropriate group based on age and ability.

Typical Daily Schedule - Novice Camp
8:30am Check in
9:00am Instructional videotape. Swim session with stroke drills and skill progression.
10:30am Dryland exercises/Snack Time/Guest speaker
11:15am Swim session with stroke drills and skill progression. Underwater videotaping.
12:30pm Lunch/Games
2:00pm Swim session and videotape review.
3:15pm Team Building Relays
3:30pm Camp ends

Young Competitive Camp

This program is geared for younger competitive swimmers ages 7-8. It will cover the stroke drills and progression followed in the Competitive Camp format but in a manner suitable for the age level. Swimmers must be able to legally swim 50 yards of the four competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Team experience required.

8:30am Check in
9:00am Instructional videotape. Swim session with stroke drills and skill progression. Underwater videotaping.
10:15am Dryland exercises/Snack Time/Guest Speaker.
11:15am Swim session.
12:30pm Lunch/Games
1:30pm Possible guest speaker.
2:00pm Swim session and videotape review.
3:15pm
Team Building Relays
3:30pm Camp ends

Competitive Camp

The Competitive Camp is designed for swimmers ages 9 - 17. Each swimmer must be able to legally swim 100 yards of all four strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Team experience required.

All swimmers will be organized by age and ability, so our instructors can move them along at a challenging but manageable pace.

Typical Daily Schedule
8:30am Check in
9:00am Instructional videotape and stroke demonstration. Swim session with stroke drills and skillprogression. Underwater videotaping and review.
11:30am Snack/Dryland training/Guest Speaker
12:30pm Lunch
1:00pm Stroke instruction and skill progression.
Second underwater videotaping and review.
3:15pm Team building relays.
3:30pm Camp ends
