The
Novice Camp at Harvard is designed for swimmers ages 7 - 12 who have
little or no prior competitive experience or lack a substantial
training background. (Intermediate and Advanced Novice Swimmers who are 13 & older are welcome to register at our Northeastern Facility.) Please choose from beginner, intermediate or
advanced. If you are unsure of your child’s ability, please call
the camp office or make your best guess based on the criteria below.
Beginner (Harvard only)
This is not a beginner swim lesson program! Swimmers must be
able to complete at least 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke.
No team experience necessary.
Intermediate (Harvard and Northeastern)
Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle and backstroke
and should have basic knowledge of breaststroke and butterfly.
Advanced (Harvard and Northeastern)
It is expected that swimmers can complete at least 50 yards
of butterfly and breaststroke and 100 yards of freestyle and backstroke.
The emphasis of this level will be on improving the technique of
all four strokes, starts and turns. It is geared for swimmers without
a strong competitive background.
The
Technique Swim Camp reserves the right to move your child into the
appropriate group based on age and ability.
